What does NFC stand for?Updated 6 months ago

NFC stands for Near Field Communication, and is evolved from radio frequency identification (RFID) tech. An NFC chip operates as part of a wireless link.

When an NFC chip is activated by another NFC-enabled device or a compatible reader, small amounts of data can be transferred between the two devices when they're held close together – typically within 4 cm (1.6 inches).

Key features of NFC technology:

- Proximity-based: Requires devices to be very close (usually a few centimeters)

- Low power consumption: Ideal for small devices like rings and wearables

- Passive operation: The NFC chip in your wearable doesn't need its own power source

- Secure communication: Provides encrypted data transfer for secure transactions

In your HyperRing, NFC technology is what allows your device to communicate with payment terminals, smartphones, and other NFC readers to facilitate contactless payments and other functionalities.

NFC has become the standard technology for contactless payments worldwide, and is used in credit cards, mobile phones, and wearable devices like HyperRings and accessories.
